This week we look forward to several awesome events across the motorsports world, from F1 testing in Bahrain to the Daytona 500 (not Mercedes related but a hallmark event) and the Bathurst 12H down under. After today, all the Formula 1 liveries have been revealed and even though I’m working alongside Mercedes, the W17 livery is objectively one of the best out there.
To review what happened over the weekend, we had tons of racing over in the Middle East with GetSpeed Racing representing the three pointed star. While the racing at Abu Dhabi was technically the first race of the 2026 calendar year, the 4H race was the final race of the 2025 season for the Asian Le Mans Series. Teams traveled to the Yas Marina circuit that sees the Formula 1 finale each year for their 4H close out and Mercedes-AMG customer racing had 2 cars entered, both by GetSpeed Mercedes. There was a first, sprint race over the weekend leading into the 4H, and in the sprint race the #9 GetSpeed AMG DNF’d due to a mechanical failure, the #37 car finished in 5th in GT class. The 37 car looked to carry that momentum into the 4H as the #9 looked to change their fortunes before saying goodbye to the 2025 season. In the 4H there was an extended red flag period after a HEAVY accident that fortunately saw the drivers involved get out relatively unscathed, but once the racing resumed the teams pushed to the flag with the #9 GetSpeed car finished second, and the #37 in P14!
This weekend, before our Monday recap, will see nearly a dozen AMGs take the field down under for the Bathurst 12H and all week we will see the W17 take to the Barcelona Circuit De Catalunya for official pre-season testing. We will see you next week!
