Street races are usually a test of patience, and Singapore is always one of the toughest on the calendar. The Mercedes team went into Sunday with plenty of work to do, but both drivers put in a strong drive to come away with a podium and a solid batch of points.
Kimi Antonelli brought home his 14th podium of the season with a smart, mature third-place finish. Meanwhile, George Russell fought his way back up into the points after starting near the back of the grid.
Clever Strategy Pays Off for Kimi
Overtaking around Marina Bay is notoriously tricky, so progress comes down to pit calls and timing. Kimi gave up track position under a Virtual Safety Car to switch to a fresh set of soft tires, dropping behind Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.
The gamble paid off nicely. With fresh rubber on his car, Kimi chased down both Norris and Hamilton, pulled off clean passes, and grabbed third place to stretch his lead in the drivers' standings.
George Fights Back From the Back
George started way down in 19th after taking a penalty for swapping out power unit parts. That meant his night was all about damage limitation and making passes whenever an opening appeared.
He moved up well on medium tires before switching to softs. A Virtual Safety Car period didn't quite line up with his pit entry timing, but he still made some decisive passes to claw his way into 9th place and secure two extra championship points.
Overall, it was a practical bounce-back for the squad after a couple of tough weekends, giving the team plenty of good momentum as F1 heads to Austin next.
