Rear doors won't unlock when the interior door...

Geoff,

Your situation seems to indicate that it is not a faulty door lock actuator as the door lock mechanism is receiving or responding to the electronic unlock signal from the front, which means it is possible you are experiencing a detached or broken cable/linkage: The most probable cause is that the plastic clip holding the release cable/rod in place has broken, or the cable itself has become detached from either the interior door handle or the latch mechanism. This is a known issue on some Mercedes-Benz models.

There is some troubleshooting measures, with photos, on the MBWorld forum, but with a W 212 sedan door, which may be somewhat different than a W 212 wagon, but for troubleshooting purposes, they should have the same internals for visual reference. The owner, in this case, who was having a slightly different problem with the locks, and eventually realized it was in fact the actuator in his case, but that doesn't sound like it is the same problem in your case.

Cordially,

David

I have a 2016 M-B AMG E63S Wagon. The rear seat passengers can't unlock the rear doors when they pull the interior handle. The doors need to be opened from the outside or electrically unlocked from the front seat. The door lock pins are below the level of the door frame so those can be pulled up to unlock the door. I've confirmed the child proof door locks are in the off position. This seems like a safety issue. Has anybody else experienced this? It there an easy solution before I take the car to the mechanic to pull apart the doors.
