Galena, IL
Illinois

On the weekend of October 26th - 28th, MBCA Members from the Chicagoland, Iowa Hawkeye, and Wisconsin Sections, descended on Northwestern Illinois, and caravaned a total of 159 miles, in search of Fall Colors. Home base was the beautiful Eagle Ridge Resort, in Galena, IL, which provided our 74 participants with festive accomodations, great food, and ample parking for our 35 Mercedes Benz trusted steeds. The focal point of the trip was the Mississippi River, and the gorgeous hilly and winding roads that run along the eastern and western banks of the great river, in both Illinois and Iowa. We made a total of six stops, which included three State Parks, Corp of Engineers Lock & Dam 13, and a lunch break at our host Pelham Brothers, in Clinton Iowa, where we witnessed several Classics in various stages of restoration, including a beautiful frame off Gullwing. We are already looking forward to a 2019 repeat performance, with the hopeful inclusion of even more midwestern MBCA Sections.
